Zero to 100 km/h drops in 3.5 seconds, and the eight-speed automatic swaps gears hard enough to jolt your spine on full-throttle upshifts.
M xDrive sends power rearward until it doesn't need to, then splits it forward the instant the rear starts stepping out—unless you switch it to 2WD mode, kill the nannies, and go find an empty apex. Ten-tenths, the M4 rotates on command, holds a drift angle like it's scripted, and puts the power down clean on exit. Lap times back it up. So does the sound: a flat-six snarl with pops on lift-off that no comfort setting fully mutes.
